Over 38 years of industry experience.
The story of Wang On Fibres
Founded in 1984, the company quickly entrenched itself as a formidable player in the bag packaging industry, producing woven polypropylene bags that were stronger and more cost-effective than their imported jute counterparts, and ensuring that life essential commodities and essentials reach their final destination safely and effectively.
Initially manufacturing 10 000 bags a week, the mechanisation and automation of Wang On’s production process led to greater efficiencies and outputs, and by 2003 the company was producing one million bags a month and had expanded its operations to three South African locations.
Delivering more than 10 million bags a month
Today Wang On boasts a workforce of 400 employees and delivers more than 10 million bags a month to multiple large agricultural companies, making it one of the largest producers of polywoven bags in South Africa. Besides its extensive local client base, Wang On also exports its essential storage bags to other African countries, such as Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Wang On prides itself on the long-standing relationships it has forged with its customers since its establishment. Many of its clients are third-generation business owners who have chosen to continue their parents’ and grandparents’ legacy of purchasing polywoven bags from Wang On.
